The Askr & Embla Sleepod
Sleepod is an in-bed baby-sleeper developed together with midwives and doulas—made to give babies and their parents a good night’s sleep, night after night. The idea behind Sleepod is to mimic the calming atmosphere of the womb to ease the transition for mother and child during the first months of life.
At night, our Sleepod can be used as an in-bed for co-sleeping, placed between the parents in bed to create a separated sleeping area. To keep the baby close during the post-partum recovery deepens bonding and eases the pressure on the mother. Nursing moms can stay in bed during feeding and enjoy better sleep. During the day, the Sleepod can be used as a napping and lounging area and brought on trips and outings as a travel cot providing baby a familiar place to sleep. The bottom can be opened to adjust the size and let Sleepod grow with your baby from newborn and up to 7-9 months.
The padded edges makes Sleepod a perfect aid to ease supervised tummy time and can be used as a non invasive seating, giving baby back support without restricting movement as she's gaining the balance to sit by herself.

Co-sleeping or shared sleep is common practiced in most cultures and provides several benefits to both baby and mother. Babies that co-sleep nurses more often, breast milk provides immunity support and extra protection during the first 6 months when baby’s own immunity is the lowest. Even bottle fed babies benefits from shared sleep as moms breathing is familiar and shooting to baby and act as a respiratory pacemaker, reminding baby to breath. Other benefits of co-sleeping is regulation of body temperature and increased mutual awareness and bonding between mother and child. Nursing mothers will gain better sleep as co-sleeping allows you to stay in bed during feedings. Good sleep helps the mother recover faster and increases the chance that mom will continue nursing beyond the first 6 months.
Use and safety instructions
Never co-sleep with your baby if you are smoking, have consumed alcohol/drugs or taken any medication that affects your sleep and/or ability to react. Always consult your pediatrician to decide if co-sleeping is appropriate for you and your family.
In bed co-sleeping
Place the co-sleeper with the head end parallel to the head board, far from any edge. The co-sleeper is preferably placed between the parents if the bed is shared by two adults.
Always place the baby on it's back and adjust the cord. Make sure the baby's feet are in the cord end of the co-sleeper and that the cord is securely tucked underneath while in use.
Use a thin, breathable blanket to protect the co-sleeper and reduce washings.
A baby's sleeping area should always be free from heavy blankets, stuffed animals, pillows, and other items that can increase the risk of suffocation.
Don’t use the co-sleeper in a water bed, sofa, soft surface, close to an edge or placed on high furniture like tables where baby can fall and hurt him/herself.
Never leave your child unattended in the Sleepod. Always make sure to put the co-sleeper on a sturdy surface free from pillows, blankets, stuffed animals and far from edges and other hazards.
Never put the co-sleeper in a crib or stroller as this can increase the risk of suffocation.
